I have had success cleaning them out by using some cleaner fluid and just letting them sit for 5 minutes. Another thing you can do to improve the spark plug function and avoid these mishaps is to upgrade to an aluminum rotary plunger. Aluminum rotary plumbers are less likely to corrode or burn in cool temperatures than a fuel injector.
A damaged fuel filter is another reason why your car may misfire when it is idle. Sometimes fuel filter chips can be popped or bent and cause a lack of power when the car misfires at idle. A good mechanic can fix most of these problems fairly easy. In some cases though, the only option may be replacing the fuel filter with a new one.
Other sounds that could be caused by a misfire at idle include a clicking sound when the car is started and a whining sound when it is idling. Sometimes these sounds seem to come out of nowhere and can scare the pants off you. These sounds can also indicate that the starter is going ahead.
